The City of Trees and PhDs

I am one lucky girl.

I'm home. I had to wait almost an hour and a half after my flight landed to be picked up, but we went to dinner at Denny's and then to Disneyland right after. Just me and my mom and my dad. It was nice to kind of be the only child for a night.

It's been fun to see friends and be with my family. Tonight I saw The Dark Crystal for the first time with Liz. I had never even heard of it. Upon learning of this hole in the Jim Henson part of my life (I only saw The Labyrinth for the first time a few weeks ago), we arranged what she called a BFFHE (because it's Monday night.) But we also had hot chocolate, talked about life, and just plain had a good time.

And that got me thinking about how very lucky I am to know Liz. And everyone else I met since I first moved to Claremont last May, even though I moved out the following July.

Upland is where my family is supposed to be, and it has been for a long time. This was the best place for me to grow up. But as for my young adulthood, the most influential city in my life is Claremont. Rexburg may be my Idahome and college town, but Claremont is just so much more special to me. It's where I worked my first full-time job, met my first boyfriend, drove my first car (which really wasn't my car), lived by myself for the first time, and it continues to be where some of the best people in my life are.

I'm so thankful for Claremont.
