I've Come to Test the Timber of My Heart.

My day could have been terrible. It certainly started that way. The file containing a final essay disappeared, I had gotten very little sleep while writing said paper, my ride to Utah this weekend cancelled, a dear roommate moved out, and my cupboards had been bereft of anything I could turn into a meal for a week.

But my day was not terrible. I got the mercy of my teacher, made it through the day without needing a nap, worked out another possible way to Utah, got to hug my roommate profusely before she left, and stopped feeling sorry for my carless self and walked to Broulim's. And I could hardly stop smiling all day.

Today was jam-packed with happy moments. I discovered that the deli at Broulim's has prosciutto and got to sample some! I worked on a group project with awesome people! I fed myself instead of buying overpriced school food!

I even found a way to keep myself motivated and focused on my schoolwork! Rather, I implemented one. Distractions are only allowed for a little bit in between assignments (or pages in a longer essay). That means indexing only ONE batch of names, a few minutes on Pinterest, or today's big thing: letting myself clean my room. It got kind bad over the weekend and I so wanted to procrastinate homework to clean. But no! I made myself finish first. And I'm glad I did. Now I have my science homework done AND my room is clean(er)!

It's finals next week, but I have quite a few finals-related things due this week. Shall we call it a finals fortnight? It's much more alliterative. Overall, I think I've been fantastically blessed with a good day when I really needed one. Thank goodness.

  1. First off, I am glad that your day took a positive turn around. Second, I was extremely thrilled to see that your title was taken from a Joe Pug song. I think people with exquisite music taste know of, and love Joe Pug :)

  3. I look to positive, optimistic people for example. I love their stories of happiness in the face of disappointment. It gives me confidence and motivation. Thanks for letting us listen.
