Chivalry is Alive...and Adorable.

Yesterday I needed groceries. Noelle and I walked to Broulim's together, but she had to take off for class before I had everything I needed (my list was a tad longer than hers). So I was left to carry three bags, two baguettes, and a gallon of milk by myself. The icing on this cake--I forgot my gloves. I felt really silly walking home in the cold. Partway down the street I hear someone clearing their throat. I step to the side and a kid in headphones zooms past me to get to campus. I guess I was walking kind of slow trying not to drop all my food in the dirty snow. My fingers hurt from the cold and the bag with my yogurt and steak sauce was starting to rip. At the top of my street, I ran into a gentleman who offered to help. I was too cold and flustered to say more than "yes. Thank you! What's your name?" I think his name was Tyler, but he saved me from dying and/or having a mental breakdown walking home from Broulim's, and I'm thankful that he did that for me.

The Headscarf

My attempt.

I think it came out more Chava...

...than Hepburn.

Other contenders were just not as fun.
"It was more babushka than Breakfast at Tiffany's."
"It was more Russian than Roman Holiday."
"Someone told me I looked Jewish."
(That one is true.)

But it's warm. I'm going to keep doing this.

And it got on my hat.

More Lists

Mistakes I've Made So Far Today
  • Sleeping in.
  • Trying to uninstall/reinstall Chrome, hoping it would solve all the problems I've been having with it.
  •  Not wearing gloves.
  • Going to the Crossroads at 12:30.

Things I'd Rather Be Doing (As opposed to what I am doing)
  • Reading. I've got Green Lantern comics, Jesus the Christ, Mansfield Park waiting for me at home. (I have reading to do for American Foundations and International Relations.)
  • Sitting on the couch with a blanket and hot herb tea, watching the lovely gray day. (I'm doing homework in the library.)
  • Family history research--I think I've finally found the elusive Barkowskis. (I'm "actively listening" and writing down what I hear on the radio for a mini-project.)
  • Going to California. (It's supposed to snow tomorrow.)

Things I Should Be Doing (And Why)
  • Not complaining. (I go to an awesome school, I have good teachers, I have friends and roommates that love me, I have a family who supports me, the temple's a ten minute walk away, and I live in the United States of America. Oh, and there's brownie batter waiting for me at home.)
  • Getting back to work (I have a bit to do today.)
